A Different Class
With the introduction of the new Building Regulations 2010 there has been a change to SBEM that means the activity classes for designated room use now follows Planning Classes i.e A1 to D2. With Industrial property it is becoming clear it is far easier to achieve a pass whilst performing SBEM Calculations for those Buildings with a B2 Class (Industrial Process) than for those with a B8 (Storage and Distribution) Class. L2 Energy Consulting therefore advises where possible B2 Class should be sought when applying for Planning.

New unit under 2010 passes SBEM Calculations
A proposed new Industrial Unit in Dorset comfortably passes Building Regulation Compliance SBEM Calculations after L2 Energy Consulting advises the Architect. After much anticipation as to how the new 2010 Building Regulations will effect compliance calculations for energy efficiency, the property concerned comfortably passed without a solar panel or wind turbine in sight.

SBEM - Bournemouth Sea Cadets need our advice.
L2 Energy Consulting have just completed the 'As Designed' SBEM Calculations for a new facility for Bournemouth Sea Cadets and without our design advice the property would have failed. This however is not uncommon and it will only become more difficult to achieve a pass as Building Regulations push for more energy efficient buildings under the new 2010 Regulations. L2 Energy Consulting always offer this advice as part of their commission and at no additional cost to the client.
